Personal Fund Raising Guide

Fund Raising Tips:

  1. Start immediately with a plan
  2. Always have pledge sheets handy
  3. Remember, writing a check is easy compared to participating a walker, rider, or some other kind of doer—ask for a lot
  4. If people say they are low on cash, ask them for a monthly pledge of $5, $10, $15, or $20
  5. Send solicitation letters to everyone you know, you never know who might respond
  6. Ask those who you have sponsored for other events, to sponsor you
  7. Ask those most likely to give a large donation first
  8. The more you ask for, the more you’ll raise

Personal Fund Raising Guide:

  1. Make a list of everyone you know and how much they can afford
  2. Based on this list, set a goal
  3. Call them and/or send them a personal letter
  4. Make follow up calls
  5. Ask, ask, ask, and ask

Sample Fund Raising Plan:

The simplest is to ask 10 people for $10
I will raise $250 in 6 weeks/days:

Week Amount Running Total

  2. Ask 2 friend for $20 $80
  3. Ask 3 co-workers for $20 $140
  4. Ask Mom & Dad for $40 $180
  5. Ask spouse/partner for $40 $220
  6. Ask neighbor/friend for $30 $250
