February 1997

Program Extended to the end of 1997

$25,000 Grants for Care Teams Still Available

Funding is still available for grants from the Faith In Action Program, which calls for the replication of the Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers program. The program provides up to $25,000 to each grantee for interfaith care giving coalitions. The program is funded in collaboration with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Thus far, the IVC program has demonstrated that religious organizations of all faiths can form effective coalitions to provide home-based volunteer services, care, and companionship to individuals with chronic health conditions, including AIDS/HIV.

Since the announcement of the program more than three years ago, a number of interfaith AIDS ministry care team programs have been funded. the program expires later this year. The next application deadline is April 1, 1997. Applications will be accepted through early summer for the summer round and until late autumn for the fall round. The entire program will complete its work by December 1997. No additional funds will be awarded after that time.
