General Convention: Resolution on God’s love for people with AIDS adopted

PHILADELPHIA, PA — July 21: Resolution A048a: Continuing Witness to God’s Love was approved by the House of Bishops at the sixth day of legislative activity. The Bishops’ approval means the resolution has cleared both houses and is therefore an official action of the General Convention.

Resolution A048a reaffirms the Church’s continued commitment to a Christian response to the AIDS/HIV pandemic.

Resolution A048a: Continuing Witness to God’s Love

Resolved, that the Episcopal Church reaffirm its continued commitment to a Christian response to the AIDS/HIV pandemic in our nation and world as set forth in “The Council Call: A Commitment on HIV/AIDS by People of Faith,” endorsed in Resolution B028a of

the 71st General Convention; and be it further Resolved, that during the 1998-2000 Triennium our Church and its members will with special intention preach, pray for, and pursue Justice, Care for Bodies and Souls, Prevention Education, Sound Public Policy, Fairness in the Church Workplace, and Collaboration in our individual and corporate responses to HIV/AIDS.
