New Brochures from AIDS Action
AIDS Action is offering two new tools in the fight against AIDS.
Talking about AIDS so America Listens is a handbook for communicating about today’s epidemic. It points out that risky behavior has increased, there have been no new national investments in prevention, and there is no national voice contradicting members of a new generation of sexually active young people who think having HIV means simply taking a few pills each day. The booklet is filled with useful facts and charts and the centerpiece is a card with talking points.
Blueprint for an AIDS-Free America is the AIDS Action Policy Plan for the next century. It gives as background the state of the epidemic, the medical facts, and the government response before presenting a plan for the nation as a whole. “America will conquer AIDS,” the introduction says, “only if we:
- Treat HIV prevention and education like the medical vaccine we crave;
- Ensure that all HIV-positive individuals have access to medical care;
- Support research into better treatments, behavior-related activities, and development of a safe and effective preventive medical vaccine.”
