Prayers of the People (Form VI)

In peace, we pay to you, Lord God.

A silence is kept.

On this day of prayer for people who are living with the Human Immune Virus and AIDS, we pray for strength to share the burden of illness; that we may have courage to respond with willing hands and open hearts, and to know that in sharing one another’s burden we grow stronger.

For all parents, loved ones, and friends of those living with AIDS; and all people in their daily life and work;

For our families, friends, and neighbors, and for those who are alone.

For this community, the nation, and the world;

For all who work for justice, freedom, and peace.

For the just and proper use of your creation,

For the victims of hunger, fear, injustice, and oppression.

For those living with Human Immune Virus and AIDS, and all who are in danger, sorrow, or any kind of trouble;

For those who minister to the sick, the friendless, and the needy.

For George of Canterbury; Frank, our Primate; _____________________, our bishops; and for all bishops and other ministers;

For all who serve in God’s Church.

For the special needs and concerns of this congregation.

The people add their own petitions.

Hear us, Lord;

For your mercy is great.

We thank you, Lord, for the special blessing of all AIDS caregivers, hospital and hospice workers, medical researchers, those who strive for justice and equity, and for all the blessings of this life.

The people add their own petitions.

We will exalt you, O God our King,

And praise your name for ever and ever.

We pray for those who had died of AIDS and all the departed; may angels surround them and the saints welcome them in peace to that place in your eternal kingdom.

The people add their own petitions.

Lord, let your loving kindness be upon them;

Who put their trust in you.

We pray to you also for the forgiveness of our sins.
