A Special Thank You…
The Rev. Richard Younge and Trudy James have ended their terms on the NEAC board and deserve our special thanks not only for their service to NEAC but for their continuing service to the mission of NEAC.
Trudy continues as AIDS Careteam Program Director for Multifaith Works in Seattle. She reports, “We have 29 teams now serving 34 people with AIDS … We now have volunteers who are Jewish, Protestant, Catholic, Muslim, Wiccan—and we’re working on a Buddhist team.” Trudy is a resource for people all over the country not only on AIDS-related matters but more generally on lay people doing pastoral care. “Lay people are hungry for empowerment to real ministry,” she says. She is also planning a three-day retreat for her dioceses on Vocation, Spirituality, and Healing.
Though theoretically retired, Father Younge is serving as interim rector at St. Matthews, Auburn, while the search committee does it work. He is active on numerous boards, including the Diocesan School of Ministry and Theology and Seattle’s Episcopal Caring Response to AIDS. Like Trudy he is a national resource for numerous aspects of ministry—this summer he’s off to Toledo to officiate at the wedding of someone who was a parishioner of his as a child.
We are deeply grateful to Trudy James and Father Younge for all they have done and continue to do for NEAC and the church.

In October the board met in New York at 815. Shown from left are Hart Roussel, Trudy James, Mary Ellen Honsaker, Randy Kimmel, Richard Younge, Gordon Chastain, and Carlos Sandoval
